I've been trying to get my Mac to boot from it's cd drive so I can do a fresh install of windows, but when I select the cd in the startup menu it just takes me to a black screen, and nothing else happens. I've tried three different versions of windows, Ubuntu, and a rescue cd, but all of them gave me a black screen. The only disk the computer wants to boot from is my snow leopard DVD.

Also, when im in the boot menu , I get three options "Macintosh HD" (my main install), "Windows" (the DVD), and "EFI Boot" (which has the DVD icon above it).

I also forgot to mention that I have recently upgraded my ram from 2 gb to 4 gb, but when I ran a memory test it came out fine.
