I bought a used 2009 MBP 17 with glossy screen and used for a few weeks now and noticed a lot of glare when using it at my office (2 side glass walls w/ lots of lights) and it bothers me a lot. This macbook has Applecare until Dec 2012 and I got it at a good deal from CL.
With a SSD as a main drive and 8GB memory, I feel it's fast enough for my needs even with C2D 2.8GHz processor (I mainly use MS Office 2011 for Mac, Windows 7 Ultimate via Parallel 6, and web browsing for work / watching movies and planning to do some photo/video editing at home (via Photoshop/iMovie/other editing SW).
Due to the terrible glare, I've been trying to find a replacement MBP 17 with AG display on eBay and found two-month old 2010 MBP AG with i7 2.66GHz/4GB/500GB with AppleCare until Dec, 2013 for $1,800. I'm sure I can find 2009 MBP 17 AG for a few hundred $$'s less. I'm planning to keep a AG Macbook Pro for at least couple of years.
Should I spend a few extra hundred $$'s and get the newer 2010 MBP? Money is not really an issue, but I'm trying to justify spending this much on a notebook (I used to be a PC only guy spending no more than $700 for a PC notebook).
How much do you guys think my 2009 MBP 17 is worth (I'm keeping the SSD and leave the original 500GB HDD in it)? It's in excellent condition with only few scratches on the bottom case.
