Hi.

I just purchased the new 17" MBP yesterday and expecting to receive it early Feb.

As we all know, the $1200 upgrade for 8GB RAM is pretty steep. I'm planning on upgrading the RAM through Apple when it gets cheaper in the future.

My question is, when Apple upgrades my RAM at the Apple Store, will it cause me to lose information and programs i've installed in the new MBP?

I don't want to lose anything in there i've already added to it.

Thanks!

No, you wont lose anything.

The information that you are concerned about is on the hard drive not the ram, so you will be fine. ....
But, you should always back up your data anyway.
