3GHz dual-core Intel Auburndale, 256GB SSD, Blu-ray, WiMAX for just under $3k

Plausible?

I don't mean to sound rude, but why is your first post and thread about this about something so speculative? There are already a gazillion threads on this.

WiMax is cheap, 160GB SSD is now $700, and it's dual core processor so it'll be mainstream model.

@Hawkeye: that's exactly what I had in mind... I don't have an immediate need of upgrading (switching actually)

@raymondu: Auburndale will be released as part of the Nehalem platform

because the site is named macrumors?

care to provide a link to that $700 SSD?

The 2011 model will have a Mr. Fusion to power its Time Machine. With it you'll be able to go back in time and tell yourself not to buy all those earlier, inferior models.

And the 2012 model will let you unbuy the comparitively barbaric 2011 model.

However, the 2013 is for keeps. It requires you to have first bought the 2011 and 2012 models before you can own the 2013.

The 2014 model lets you go forward in time, skipping the 2015 model and directly buy the 2016 model. However, you're then stuck in the post-apocalyptic future.

So, good question. You need to think long and hard before buying the next Mac model.

According to your logic... we all need to buy every version... because 'I can't buy the 2013 model without first owning the 2011 and 2012... so I'm just going to buy every variation of Macbook Pro that I can find, because I don't want to 'miss one'

LOL!

while all of you 'sideline sitters' are waiting... I'll be enjoying the heck out of my MBP!
