2009 Mid uMB 2.4 MacBook Can Ram go to 8GB

Ok so I have a uMB from April of 2009 and I currently have 4GB in there, but can these units push up to 8GB, I have heard different things, but also what do I need to do to push the ram to 8GB if this is possible, is there a FW update I must do?
