Hello,

I recently purchased a 2.4 Ghz 13" Macbook Pro. I am pleased with my purchase. However now I have an opportunity to swap computers with a 2009 Macbook Pro. The slightly older MBP has a faster processor of 2.53Ghz, the same ram, HDD, and the older graphics card.

Which computer will be faster overall?

Does the .13Ghz increase of the CPU outweigh the increase in speeds from the newer GPU?

A wash?

Thanks

The 130MHz are not noticeable unless you have to run CPU intensive calculations all the time (24/7), for which the additional 130 MHz will save you a minute or three with a four hour process.

New model also got an update to the trackpad, inertia scrolling, and mini displayport, audio pass through, as well as the new graphics is 80% faster than the 9400m. The 130mhz is a 5% increase. And as mentioned above larger battery in the new model.

The biggest change was the GPU. That alone is worth not switching.

If you'd read the thread, the owner actually has the 13" 2010 model and is wondering whether to switch to the 2.53 GHz 2009 model.

I would suggest keeping the 2010 model, it is likely that the increase in GPU power is more significant than the slight increase in C2D speed.

They've only begun to list the reasons the new 2.4 GHz MBP is superior. MUCH better graphics card. Also: Audio transmitted in the Mini Displayport to HDMI.

If you'd read my post, you would actually see that I recommended him to not switch.
