Hey everybody I'm new here and need some help.

Well what happened was I was updating my macbook pro with the system updates and during the process of installing I received a gray screen telling me that I needed to turn off my computer. I did so, but when trying to boot back into my mac partition, that was being updated, it was stuck at the gray screen with the apple logo. So I used my install disc and booted from there and it would freeze up at the language selection screen, I'm able to move my mouse but can't select the continue arrow, also the disc has no scratches on it. I also attempted to boot from an external drive to a backup that I had from about a week ago and it freezes up as well. I'm able to still move around my mouse but can't click anything, the status bar still works also with the seconds changing. So I have no clue on what to do next, any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long post.
