Hello, I just bought the m4 crucial 256GB SSD to replace my current HDD on my macbook pro 2010 model.

It comes with a sata wire 2.5' to transfer my data directly from my HDD to my new SSD.

However, when I attach the SSD through the sata wire to my computer (USB port) it says, 'the disk cannot be read by this computer'.

I am not tech savy at all, and am learning from this, has anyone experienced this at all before and can shed some light for me?

That's normal. You have to format the drive first using disk utility.
