Hello - I am new to the forum

I am mostly interested in a machine for running Logic Pro 9 well. Right now I am thinking 2010 27" i7 used 16gb ram 500gb HD 3 yr warranty approx $1600. I am not sure if this will do HT - guide shows 2.9ghz i7 will do HT but it doesnt say if the 2.8 will or not?

Does anyone have an opinion about whether I should go for this machine or a newer 2011 i5 21.5 machine for Logic

Thanks

Go for the i7. I have the 2009 2.8 i7, and with 16GB it's still running strong. I thought about upgrading, but all I would reall get would be thunderbolt. I think the i7 has at least one or two more OSX upgrades available to it, after Mountain Lion.

i7 is still the high end brand for consumer grade Intel CPU. I don't see it's going away soon. So as long as Intel don't come up with a new label, I think it's still going take 5 or 6 years before Apple would ditch support for Core i machines.

I was thinking that, but wanted to be conservative. I would be very happy if my 2009 lasted till 2014. Already replaced my optic drive for a 256GB Crucial M4.
