I have a 2010 27" iMac with Lion OSX and noticed that the brightness always returns to the maximum. Is there anything I can do?

I have a 2011 Mac mini Server connected via miniDisplayPort cable > LaCie Thunderbolt Little Big Disk > Thunderbolt cable > Mac mini.

Run a utility like Onyx and clean out all your caches. If that does not work look for a preference file in User/Library/Preferences called "com.apple.BezelServices.plist". Delete the file and re-boot for fresh file. Brightness will be set to max again but after you set it, it should retain it's setting.
