I'm in a great confusion on which one to get. iMac 27-inch 2.93GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 is priced $1569 - Refurbished. I was looking to get the i5 iMac @ $1699, which has the thunderbolt. Apart from processor it has 1GB Ram and compared to the 2011 model just has 512MB Ram. Which one you think best worth for the money?

Ah just now read the benchmarks and other status and looks like the 2011 model is much better than the last year i7 model. Now to avoid out of stock situation I checked out the refurbished iMac and now they have prepared for shipment in less than an hour. Guess I'm stuck with an older/slower version :(

You sure about those benchmarks? I'm pretty sure the 2010 Core i7 smokes the 2011 Core i5, especially the base model.

And the 5750 (5850M) should be equal (if not more powerful) than the 6770M. And that doesn't even count the fact that it has 1GB memory.

Here take a look at the benchmarks below. I guess it all depends on whether or not you want Thunderbolt and if that is worth the speed difference and the extra $130.

Thanks a lot!!! I don't need the thunderbolt and you saved my day today :)

Pity about the resale of your 2.93GHz in 3 years time....
Everyone will want the TB version because by then it will be the del facto standard for connecting externals.
still if you've got to save a hundred bucks now....

I just ordered the 2.93 i7 refurb and think thunderbolt will take at least a few years to get anywhere if it takes off at all. I can't wait to see what everyone says once the prices of the first few peripherals come out. Pair that with no target display mode for 90% of existing macs and a stingy hdd replacement system and I don't see the 2010s losing resale value any time soon.

Where you can buy 27" 2.93 i7 for $1569????? Please let us know.

It is showing $1999 to me both in Canada and US.

Thanks, Pendu

Look closely at the specs of the one you're linking. That one includes the SSD. The regular one, with the 1TB HDD, isn't in stock at this exact moment, but when it is, it's $1569, down from about $1699 just a week before the 2011 models came out.

Thanks for the clarification :)

also look for the 2009 2.8ghz i7 in the refurb store. Mine just came wednesday for ~$1350.
