Hey all,
So I have a late 2010 27 inch i7 iMac that I purchased new from Apple at the end of 2010. About a year after purchase, I started noticing what I've researched to be the dreaded LCD Contamination issue, where dark smudges start to appear on-screen. About 3 months ago, I decided to finally do something about it (I have AppleCare, which expires on this machine in December). Went to a Genius Bar, they gave me no issue and agreed to replace the LCD panel, as well as swap out the hard drive under the Seagate recall program. A week later I was up and running with a perfect screen.
Fast forward to just a couple of weeks ago, and I noticed the problem slowly starting to return. I now have the same, very obvious issue with the screen. I have an appointment tomorrow with the same Genius Bar. My question is, at this point, would it worth asking them for a replacement iMac instead of attempting a second repair? What are your experiences dealing with AppleCare situations like these? Thanks for any advice.
I've attached an image to show what I'm talking about, but keep in mind the camera lighting makes it seem more washed out than it really is. It's actually much more obvious and defined in person.
