Got a 2010 late MacBook air 11 from my sister. It has been sitting for years with a bad and swelled battery.
Today I got around to fixing it. Booted up after new battery just fine. Decided I wanted a factory reset.
Shut down.
Tried command + R at boot screen, got a blocked symbol (circle with line through it 🚫)
Then tried option + power... Got to the disk choice. Connected to WiFi and selected recovery disk, got the same blocked symbol 🚫.
In both cases, it then tried to boot normally. At the end of the loading bar, it just powers off.
Even with standard start it now powers off at end of loading bar.
I do not have any experience with Macs, what's my next move?
-- update
After trying a few more keyboard combos, it now won't turn on at all. I don't have a charger for it (was hoping to verify it is alive before I buy one). So now not sure if battery is dead or of it's bricked. I messed with it for a good hour before it got to this state.
