I have a 2010 or so Macbook Pro (17", the kind with the nVidia 330M) and a Henge dock.
Works great about 95% of the time, but every week or two, it hangs. Symptoms are that the (external) display goes to sleep, and the machine stops being responsive. I'm using wired ethernet for it, and I note that when it has gone into this state, pings timeout if it's still in the dock, but get host unreachable if it's not in the dock, so the ethernet hardware is partially functional, but the OS isn't. Haven't found anything I can do but hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it off. Opening and closing the lid, pushing other buttons, etc., all do nothing. Machine is warm but not unreasonably so when this happens.
Any suggestions? I guess I can take it into the Apple store, but it seems like "sometimes if I leave it on for a week and a half it hangs" is a little hard to diagnose or reproduce.
