Pardon my ignorance. I don't know that much about hardware compatibility. I have a 2010 MBP and would like to have Bluetooth 4.0 or better. I have a USB dongle but it comes out and gets lost and it a bit of a pain. I've already removed the CD/DVD drive and installed a second SSD. Is it possible to used that drive slot that the spare SSD is in for a Bluetooth set up? Is there some card out there that can be plugged into the (SATA?) slot and used with this old computer? Happy to ditch the second SSD, if so!

Alternatively, If there's a way to internalize this USB bluetooth dongle or if there are any other options, I'd like to know!

No. you dont need to do any of that and can simply replace it the internal bluetooth with a BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX card. That's what i did with my 2010. Worked out of the box. You'll still need to patch/use opencore etc to enable things like handoff, etc

Which 2010 is it? if it's the 13" you're out of luck because the BT module is in some weird place
