I have a 2010 macbook pro, intel core 2 duo, 4 gigs ram. The wifi has an x, won't turn on and says wifi no hardware installed. i already replaced the airport card, any other ideas or a fix. Might replace the wifi cable next. it's all updated to osx mavericks.

I have this same problem. Did you ever figure it out?

My MacBook Pro is Mid-2010 15"

I have replaced the Airport Card (twice) and the Ribbon cable and still get the same Wi-Fi: No hardware installed.

Bluetooth works just fine.

I am using a USB based Linksys AE6000 AC Dual Band adapter for wifi now.

My problem started after updating to OS 10.11 El Capitan and installing 1 TB SSD. I replaced the DVD drive with original 400 GB drive.

Wifi does not show in recovery mode either. I have reset the NVRAM/PRAM and SMC multiple times to no effect.

Any help would be welcomed.
