I have a Mid-2010 13" Macbook Pro and have never done any upgrades or replaced the battery. It will be 7 years old next year and I am trying to decide would it be better to upgrade to SSD and also increase RAM to 8 GB or just use until it quits and get a new MBP at that time? Thanks for input.

I'd go for the SSD & RAM upgrade. Significantly cheaper than a new computer and it'll run like butter.

Upgrading the SSD would add a lot of like if the processing and graphics power are still sufficient. Especially if you can get away with 256GB SSD or smaller.
