Hi,

I've been looking at purchasing an SSD for my Mid-2010 MBP. I was thinking of getting the Samsung 840 series 250GB SSD for it. I've been reading mixed reports as far as the drive working out of the box or needing to get some sort of firmware update through bootcamp. Any insight?

Thanks in advance.

Usually the Samsung SSD's are shipped with the latest firmware based on my experience.

You don't need bootcamp to update the firmware on Samsung SSD's.

Thank you, UBS28.

Also, do I need to be worried that it is a SATA 6Gbit/s drive, and the MBP is SATA 3Gbit/s? I see that the drive is supposed to be SATA 3.0Gbit/s compatible.

It will work fine.

You still get a huge improvement since the speed of a SSD comes from it's latency.
