I hadn't seen this kind of issue mentioned in other threads on external displays, only flickering issues, so I thought it'd be good to start a new thread.
When I hook up my 2011 13" i7 MBP to my TV either via an Apple MiniDisplay Port->DVI adapter + DVI-HDMI cable or via a generic MiniDisplay Port->HDMI adapter + HDMI cable, there is a very glaring graphical artifact that shows up: basically, an outline of the dock and its items appears when I play videos in full screen. Even when I don't play a video full screen, when I've just got the desktop open, a bright purple line extends across the top edge of where the dock ends. I've never seen this with my 2009 MacBook Pro, and I retested that just now to verify, and yes, this was also after applying the latest 10.6.7 patch which was supposed to fix issues with external displays.
I'm sure that this is a driver related issue that will get fixed eventually, but as for right now it's making me want to just return the 2011 and keep the 2009 awhile longer.
