I installed a Vertex 3 in my Macbook Pro's main hard drive SATA slot. All software and firmware are up to date but for some reason the drive is only connecting at SATA II 3Gb/s speeds. When I connected a Vertex 4 in the slot it was not detected at all.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

I appreciate the help.

I read that thread actually. It just confused me more. The gist I'm getting is that I'm screwed?

Here you go:

Well your drive is clearly capable of SIII, but as the negotiated link speed is showing, it has been throttled to SII.
When did you get your MBP. Was it a CTO/BTO or a stock. Apple did do a running change in the chipset for the early 2011 15 and 17 in MBPs.

Purchased in June of 2011. Only upgrade was I purchased it with the 750gb drive instead of the 500gb. It's the 2.2GHz model.
