Hi just been given an imac 27 inch 2011 it has no processor

I know these models shipped with i5 or i7 cpus. Just wondering if I could put an i3 into it. I just want to use as a second display.

If so which model i3.

I have an i3 here i3-2120. Would this work?

Many Thanks

The 2011 uses G2 Core chips so yours might work. Not heard of anyone using anything other than the i5 or i7 chips but it's worth a shot, especially as it will cost you nothing. If it doesn't, the i5 chips are pretty cheap on ebay/ali express.

Just install the core ỉ3 you have to see if it post at all. The disassembling can cause many issues than we expect.
