Guys:
I have 32 gig of ram i previously used in my old 27 i5 2011 iMac, i got myself the new model the 27 i5 late 2013 iMac model, and since it has only 8gig of ram and i have those 32 gigs just waiting in, my question is can i use those 32 gig in my new iMac, or am i tied only to use more of the the 1600 Mhz ram it actually has?

If it is compatible, would the performance hit be noticeable?

Because i would be saving myself $300 in memory upgrades.

should work fine. Well just default to the lower speed. I doubt you'd notice. Plug it in and see!

Memory does not work

Tried to connect the 32 gig of ram from a 2011 27 imac model to the new 2013 and 1 could not even get it to boot, so back to the old 8gig and waiting from amazon to get the new 32 gig.

Why not pick the hdd option instead of ssd? That would save money too. Hell, why not stay on the 2011 iMac?

I had an old machine with a core i7 920 and only 6 gigs ram that was pc-1600 ddr3 (Basically, the best I could get at the time) and triple channel. For a core i5 2500k build, I used cheap ass ram, but 16 gigs of it.

For pretty much everything, the 6 gig faster ram ran circles around the cheap slow stuff. You can save money, but if you are gonna buy a new pc..

Someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning....

Why not pick the hdd option instead of ssd? I did not pick ssd. That would save money too. Hell, why not stay on the 2011 iMac, because the screen went bust and i got a new imac as a replacement througth apple care.

And since this is the second time an iMac gives me problems, the same machine twice first the logic board and then the screen, and now a 14 month rMBP wont boot. I'm having issues with the quality of apple products because of it. and that forces me to spend the least amount possible because if this new iMac gives me problems again, then i'm back to windows and android phones. Hope it does not happen. But the experience has been very unsavouring.
