2011 iMac vs 2009 Mac Pro

I am debating whether or not I should get a 2011 iMac or a 2009 Mac Pro.
I could get either for $2000. (The Mac Pro is being offered at that price by a friend of mine)

iMac: 3.1GHz Quad-Core i7, 4GB, 6970M 1GB, 1TB Hard Drive
Mac Pro: 2.93GHz Quad-Core Xeon, 8GB, 4870 512MB, 1TB Hard Drive

Which has better gaming capabilities? Which is the better deal?

Mac Pro has is more capable for gaming as the GPU can be upgraded but other than that, the iMac should be faster. You would need to upgrade the GPU to get better performance, and you need a monitor too.

I have experience of the 5770 gaming in eg COD and its good.

The 5770 is similar to the 4870.

You will have more depreciation with the 2001 iMac if its new.

The 2009 MP should be something you can buy and sell later with little loss.
