I'm currently have trouble upgrading the AMD Catalyst Control Center drivers on the mid-range 2011 Mac Mini 2.7GHz i7 with AMD 6630M GPU in Windows 7 64-bit. I've tried uninstalling the current 11.8 drivers through Add/Remove Programs and Catalyst Control Center Manager. I made sure that the drivers were reverted all the way back to the generic Windows VGA graphics, then installed. I restarted Windows 7 between each uninstall/install. However, after it appears to successfully install and version after 11.8 Windows Media Center is broken and displays an error message stating the required graphics drivers or components are not installed. I tried selecting just the drivers and Catalyst Control Center to make sure Hydra or HDMI Audio drivers are not causing the error. Uninstalling any version after 11.8 and reinstalling 11.8 solves all the problems.
AMD just released 11.11 and apparently significantly improved the drivers ability to handle 29/59 frame rate issue, which causes flickering and/or stuttering of Cable Card Live TV content. (The only reason I use Windows 7 64-bit is because Windows Media Center is the only Cable Labs certified way of displaying copy protected content on a computer.)
Configuration:
2011 Mac Mini 2.7GHz i7 dual core
Discrete AMD 6630M GPU
Samsung 8GB RAM
OCZ 240GB Vertex 3 MAX IOPS FW 2.08 (Windows 7 OS drive)
WD 750GB Scorpio Black 7200RPM
SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime 3CC
