The only thing keeping me from buying a 2011 macbook air at this point is the 4GB of ram. Can anyone tell me what its like once you fill up the ram and the things starts using virtual memory. Since it is ssd, its possible that it still works fine actually. So can someone test this for me?

Here is some info about Virtual Memory

It depends on what you are running, but the SSD really does speed up page outs. It isn't as fast as RAM, but it's much faster than a hard drive. Unless you are doing something extremely memory intensive such as editing large photos or videos constantly, the 4GB ought to be OK.

Digilloyd is knowledgeable, but he's also a professional photographer and photo editor, so it isn't surprising that the MacBook Air, even the Rev E, isn't sufficient for him. He complains that his Mac Pro needs more RAM, so his needs are extreme.
