Hi,

Is the new 2011 Macbook Pro 13" i7 perform better with then early 2009 iMac 24" with 2.66GHz? I think the MBP is better. I just a little bit confused with the 4MB shared L3 cache vs 6MB shared L2 cache. Please advise. I am thinking to upgrade my imac to the new 13" MBP + 27" Apple monitor

This is the side by side comparison:
2011 MACBOOK PRO 13" i7
2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor
4MB shared L3 cache
4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1333MHz DDR3 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB
Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

EARLY 2009 IMAC 24"
2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
6MB shared L2 cache at full processor speed
4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

The MBP will definitely outperform the iMac, although the only suggestion I would make is to buy a 7200 RPM hard drive and install that for more desktop-like load speeds, etc. Or if you don't need a ton of space and can spare the extra money, get the 128GB SSD. I wouldn't worry much about the processor cache, the i5 will be faster either way.
