2011 Macbook Pro 15" Sound Card

Has anyone tinkered around to see the capabilities of the on-board sound card for the new 2011 15" Macbook Pros? Reason I ask is i just ordered one and I'd like to use it to record music live via microphone. I know a lot of DJs have used Macs before, but I'd like some input for the new series.

Any thoughts?

Btw, first post evarrrr! Figured I'd register since I finally forked out the $ for an epic MBP.

Not too good I'm afraid...

I do a lot of vinyl recordings, and the on-board sound card does not seem to be the best. Recording with the line-in created a very faint hiss. Using a USB sound card on the same setup resolved this. I would not be surprised if mac DJ's are using external setups for this; you should talk to them and find out.

Please let me know your experience with the sound card of the MBP. Maybe there is something I am doing wrong.

If quality is important to you, you should use an external sound card.
