So you're gaining 100mhz, 2 year warranty and losing 2".

I probably wouldn't do it, but if you find the 17" too big than it may be whats best for you. In the end our opinions here don't matter and you need to do what your particular situation dictates.

I find the 15" to be the perfect size and if it is the anti glare it is better than the 17"... I would trade :)

I beg to differ. The 17 inch is just a base model while the 15 inch has Anti-Glare, Hi-Resolution (not as high as the 17 inch), the 2.3GHz option and 3 year AppleCare. Granted not much more, but it's a fair trade.

The CPU upgrade was $250, anti-glare $50, Applecare $349. The difference from the high end 15" and the 17" is $300.

I have the 17" and love every bit of the resolution. With the upgraded 2.3 I am understanding this trade is coming about because the CPU upgrade wasn't worth it in his eyes.

I do find the 15" displays as the best laptop size ever... It might be me but I really like that and the anti glare option for my design work is spot on... Ultimately there is no much of a difference between the machines

I personally like the 17" better, but if I had to choose between a standard 17" and a AG 15" I'd take the 15" any day with or without the processor upgrade because I can't stand the Glossy screens. Plus you get the upgraded processor and Applecare. I would trade, but ultimately you have to decide what's best for you.

2011 Macbook pro 15" trade to 17"

I did went ahead and did the trade. Love the antiglare display on the 15" and I was able to squeez another $100.00 from the guy who traded. I'm a happy camper.

Actually it's 3 more years of warranty and I was able to have the other person fork out $100.00 on top of his trade. I was able to compare displays and the antiglare was actually the deal breaker.
Thanks for your opinion.

Good job. I had the 15'' valued higher. Assuming they are both early 2011 models, the 15'' has the processor and display upgrade, which makes their prices almost equal. Throw in applecare and $100 cash and you win big time. Plus antiglare is of course a winner!

This is funny in the fact that I'm trying to do the opposite.

I have a 2010 17 AG and am trying to go to a 15" Quad AG

Doubt I'll be able to sell my 17 for more than I can get a used 15" 2.2, but I hope I can get close to almost break even.
I like the 17, but sometimes it seems a little too big.

The 15" in terms of pricing is higher than the 17". I don't know why you "squeezed" an extra $100 from a friend.

Well because it took me all night to really decide if I wanted to trade. My Mac is like new (So as his) but I guess he's really desperate to get a 17". We're still friends. He's happy and I'm happy, I think that's all that matters. Nobody feels like he got ripped off.

And that's all that matters regardless of what the peanut gallery snarks at.

Reminds me of the old guys in the balcony on The Muppets around here :)
