I have an old 2011 MacBook Pro that I was going to use to play games on my TCL Roku TV, but when I plug it in via HDMI it causes my TV to lose connection with my Vizio soundbar via CEC. Audio still works but I can no longe change the volume with the Roku TV remote on any app/channel, not just the Macbook's HDMI input.
I thought perhaps the MacBook can send CEC commands to the TV, but given how old it is (2011!) I doubt CEC even existed back then... Either way, I can't find any way to disable CEC on the MacBook and don't know why it breaks the CEC on the rest of my devices. When the MacBook is plugged in, my Vizio soundbar disappears from the detected CEC device list (the Macbook doesn't show up in the CEC list either). As soon as I unplug the Macbook, my soundbar reappears, I regain control, everything returns to normal.
It'll be super annoying if I can't use CEC at all just because of one device's inability to play nice
Anyone else ever heard of this issue before??
