I have a 2011 MBP, using a ROCKETFISH " Mini-Display --> DVI " connector in the Thunderbolt port and all I get on the Samsung External is a bright white screen.

Tried " Detect Monitors " and the system sense it being there .... but nothing shown but the white screen.

I did try to search this setup but did not find anything specific.

Samsung Moniter Model = Syncmaster 2053 BW

Any ideas? ( I am thinking the monitor is the issue )

THANKS

I connect a 2010 MacBook Air to a 22" Samsung Monitor, 1680x1050....

I use the Apple MiniDisplayPort to DVI adapter (white Apple adapter)

it works just fine under Lion.

That is quite strange... Usually, Apple does a good job of detecting it right off the bat.

I have the Samsung Syncmaster B2230 and it worked right away. I use a mini-display to VGA adapter (which I bought from Amazon for $6-9).

If you could exchange it, I would look into that.

Have you tried inputing it from another laptop (a friends or something)?
