My 2011 MacBook Pro (15") suddenly developed a trackpad problem. When using, it will often stop responding like it can't feel my finger anymore. Very frustrating! I've had to use an external mouse to get any work done. No damage to the laptop at all. Anyone else see something like this? Do the trackpads stop being as sensitive after awhile?

Thanks for any help,

JT

Provided there's not some unusual software issue going on, it's going to be the trackpad assembly requiring replacement. They shouldn't lose their sensitivity over time, being a glass tracking surface (older plastic ones would wear to a smooth, shiny finish over time) and especially not within the first year, being a 2011 model.

This kind of issue would be covered under the limited warranty. I'd get it serviced when you get the chance.

Thanks for the quick reply! Is it something I could walk into an Apple store for, or will I be out the computer for awhile?

Thanks again,

JT

I had the same issue on my 2010 MBP, the trackpad went out completely.

I think they had my machine for 2 days.

They gave me no hard time, tried using the trackpad and said hrm, then fixed it.
