Since the new of Macbook Pros have been released, and with the upcoming release of the new iMacs; are there any rumors or indications of a new Macbook? Looking at buying a small portable laptop, and the 13.3 Macbook is perfect, just wondered if Apple intends on upgrading the processor to the new Intel 2011 i3 or i5?

I was wondering the same thing myself, I think the last refresh was in May so would expect one soon, they usually happen once yearly at least.

Yeah sounds like May might be the release time. Suprised to not hear anything about possible configurations. Maybe next month the rumors will start swirling about possible hardware upgrades.

It's possible, although it's usually a pretty quiet update. Based on the new MBPs, I'd suspect a high-end Core i3 with the 2.3 i5 as an option, maybe make 4GB RAM standard, TB port.

My guess is the MB will be updated when the new iMacs come out - possibly within 60 days. I believe they did both in Oct 2009 when the new iMacs came out.

I know it would be more logical to use SB but any chance that Apple actually uses the old i5 in the MacBook? Heat is already an "issue" with the 2011 13" MacBook Pro and I was never a fan on how the polycarbonate MacBook's handled heat.

Very unlikely, given that it would then be stuck with the old intel graphics which would actually give people something to complain about.

Apple will probably stick in an i3 instead of the i5. There has to be something that distinguishes the Pro from the white Macbook....besides the colour and material :D

I'm secretly hoping they update the MacBook along with the MacBook Air in may/June along the same processor lines. Would be a nice to see it around WWDC?

I totally agree with you THADOGGG, the Intel Core i3 processor will be the standard for the macbook. I don't see Apple using an i5 processor. Definitely have to have something that distinguishes the macbook from the MBPs......

Exactly what I'm thinking. I hope Apple goes this route. But in the past, we have seen the MBP 13" having the same specs pretty much as the regular Macbook. You never know

I think there are two situations that could arise

MacBooks and MacBook Air's refreshed separately in 2011

with Macbook
-i3 Processor (Sandy Bridge)
-Superdrive
-Relatively Same Design
-Thunderbolt
-Same HDD

with Macbook Air
-i3 Processor (Sandy Bridge)
-Backlit
-Thunderbolt
-Same Design

or

the merging of the two lines.

I don't think there is room for the Macbook AND Macbook Airs. I personally think there will be a merge either this year or next year. Who knows?

Since the uMB became the MBP 13" the base MBP 13" and the MB have always shared the same processor.

the new white macbooks will definitely have an i5 processor probably like the baseline 13"mbp. it has usually always been like that so i doubt there would be anything different unless they still try to stick 2gb ram in it again then that would be outrageous.
