Does anyone have any insight into whether this set up will work? I have a 2011 11" MBA, and I use it with a 24" ACD (I just plug the miniDP cable into the TB port on the MBA), and it works great. I now find myself running out of space on the SSD in the laptop, and a USB 2.0 drive is too slow for my needs. It would seem that I could connect the MBA to a Thunderbolt drive capable of daisy-chaining, and then connect the MiniDP cable of the ACD to the other Thunderbolt port on the drive. Has anyone tried that?

Many thanks in advance.

Yup that'll work.

Turns out, the reason why my MBA SSD was filing up was the Local Snapshots being created by TimeMachine. Looks like the amount of drive space TM uses gets shrunk as you need more space, so I've got quite a bit to go before I have to worry. Hopefully, by then, these Thunderbolt drives will be a lot cheaper!
