2011 MBA to Non Thunderbolt External Monitor

Can someone try to connect your MBA from the Thunderbolt port to a Non Thunderbolt External Monitor by using the mini display cable. Someone on the Apple Support forum says it can be done because the mini plugs have the same form factor size. Thank for the help.

It can be done. The Thunderport port can do everything a mini-DisplayPort can do.

Yes I have my 2010 MiniDisplay to HDMI adapter and it works on my 46" Sony Bravia 3D.

Works just fine on OSX, but with a Mid-2011 MBA, it doesn't work at all on Windows 7.
