Yo yo,
Just thought I'd post a strange observation: My recently sold 2010 i5 256MB video ram 15" MacBook Pro couldn't display at 60 Hertz (NTSC) (tested with 2 different brand HDMI converter cables) out to my Zepto 1080p 42" 100Hz flatscreen TV/monitor. That sucked, cause I noticed a bit more lag when using it at 50 Hertz (PAL) obviously, given the lower refresh rate of the screen. At 24p the mouse is VERY sluggish, at 50 it was bearable, but 60 is just better, period.
Fast forward to now, that I upgraded to the 2011 i7 2.2GhZ 1GB video ram monster of a 15" MacBook Pro, and the problem is GONE. I have been using the external TV with 60 Hertz without any issues! (Previously, the screen would jump one horizontal pixel line up and down at a constant rate, which was too uncomfortable to look at) but now the screen is totally crisp, no flickering, and responding nice and fast.
Just thought I'd mention it, if other people in PAL land or whatever, had noticed similar issues. The new MBP lineup seem to get rid of this problem. Why? I dunno...perhaps one of you guys know what the deal is...?
