Trying to help a friend out:
Problem with MBP 13” (Early 2011) 2.3 GHz i5, 4G Ram
Running OS X ver 10.9.5
Storage: 148.99GB of 319.21GB (No External Drive) (16GB iCloud)
The computer, yesterday, was running fine then all of sudden did the following:
1. Screen went black and computer turned off
2. Turned it back on, no Apple symbol but screen turned grey then gave two options:
a. Macintosh HD
b. Hard drive emblem w/ “Recover”
**Did not select either**
3. Turned the computer off/on 3Xs (each time giving #2s options) then the 4th, computer came back on as usual.
But now, computer runs exceptionally slow to the point of web page attempts time out and regular search for documents/pictures within the computer comes up really slow.
Additionally, I've attached a pic showing that the time machine hasn't been configured.
Are there options available to get it run in it’s optimized condition w/o going to the Apple Store for repair or is this an Apple repair situation?
