2011 MBP: problematic performance

I grabbed a basic 2011 15in MBP the other day. From day 1 it has had lots of unusual, and random, pauses when doing basics like surfing the internet or clicking around the desktop. There is nothing intensive running at the same time that would account for it. I have an old 2007 imac that does not show this behavior.

Anything I should be looking into?

Take it back to wherever you bought it, not normal.

Mine works fine, must be a problem with yours. Take it back, it should still be under warranty, unless you took out the optical drive or dropped it.

I had an issue like that a couple days after setting up my MBP, it was driving me insane. I was constantly getting the beach ball when doing simple things like trying to change the background. After searching online for like 12 hours straight I found the problem to be spotlight. Apparently spotlight was trying to index my Bootcamp partition or something. I have no idea, but I put the partition in the private section of spotlight and it's been speedy ever since.

So basicaly, do you have anything other than stock software installed?
