2011 MBP Trackpad, clicks but not registering?

Got a late 2011 MBP 13". Track pad tracks fine, clicks fine but the clicks don't register without a great deal more force that what it takes to make it click. Left side is worse than the right. Is there anything I can try to fix this or do I need a new track pad?

Took the trackpad out and soaked it in alcohol. That had helped some. It did nothing. I replaced it with a highly rated third party trackpad-good as new. I didn't know these 'wore' out over time.
