I pulled out a 2011 MBP to see if it was usable. It does need a new battery, but just as importantly, the track pad is non responsive. It doesn’t even move a little when pressed. Any tips to get it moving again? Thanks!

Go to iFixit and fix it.

If you know that you need a battery, then replace it.
That will likely fix the trackpad, too.
A swelling battery can push against the trackpad from underneath, leaving it unwilling and unable to "even move a little when pressed".
So, if you want the trackpad to move, try removing the battery...

Good point. Also a dent on the corner of the top case on certain MBPs will cause the battery to slightly shift and put pressure on the trackpad.
