Another user here who's having persistent WiFi trouble since Yosemite. I work at an AASP and even we have no idea what it is. Apple tech support will tell me nothing.
I've narrowed it down to the card telling the system that it is turned off. That's my fundamental problem, although the WiFi icon still appears connected/searching. I sneakily tried to turn it on and off in Terminal, but it didn't work.
I also once had a 'no hardware' message when hovering over the AirPort icon in the system menu bar, but this went away after a reboot.
Has anyone who's had similar WiFi glitches experienced them on a 2011 machine?
