2011 Powerbook Graphics Problem

The graphics on my Powerbook is all over the place - a quick google and I find this is a common problem on this model. The fix seems to be to replace the logic board. Do I have to go to an Apple Store and pay them to get it fixed or can I purchase a board myself? Thanks.

Apple hadn't sold a Powerbook 6 years prior to 2011, so exactly what is it that you have?

That had me scratching my head too, and consulting MacTracker. He probably means Macbook or MBP.

Sorry - yes I have a MacBook Pro 17" early 2011

Some people seem to be getting our 2006 and earlier PowerPC Macs confused. Not really understandable considering Apple hasn't made a "Power" anything in 10 years and I have yet to see an MBP or MB display that says "PowerBook" instead of MacBook Pro or MacBook on it.

The pics in the thread are dead, but I remember when that cropped up - the mythical Intel PowerBook.
