A couple of weeks ago I purchased a parts only 2012 Unibody 13.3" MBP which was missing the battery. I purchased an OEM battery from Ebay and all appears to be in order. However I'd like to ensure the battery seller did provide an OEM Apple battery. I do not see any markings on the outside which would help me to know so I installed it and checked the manufacturer in System Information. The manufacturer is given as "SMP". Does anyone know if this is an OEM Apple battery manufacturer? I paid more for an OEM battery as I like to keep everything up to Apple specifications. Can anyone with the same model and original battery let me know if their's is manufactured by SMP? Or can anyone with knowledge confirm SMP is an OEM manufacturer for Apple?

I'm in Canada and Apple will only sell parts to authorized Apple repair shops and will not allow authorized repair shops to sell the part without installing it for the customer.

Using Coconut Flavour identifies a battery I bought from Amazon.ca as a Simplo and it was never advertised as being an apple OEM. Simplo may have made the battery but that doesn't automatically mean it is identical to a battery you'd get from the Apple store. The Amazon battery is good but definitely doesn't have a maximum charge equal to the original.
