Hi,

I have a 15" 2012 MacBook Pro (Intel HD 4000 / GT 650M graphics). Today, I opened it up and was presented with a split-second-in-duration white screen full of artifacts. It then immediately went away and presented me with my normal desktop.

I'm wondering, however, if there's potentially an impending graphics or logic board issue. Would Apple replace this laptop under their current replacement program, or is it not a significant-enough issue? Apple tends to go solely by their ASD programs, and such programs don't always seem to discover actual issues.

-Thanks

Well, I am posting here to get further info about Extension Program for Video Issues for MacBook Pros purchased between Feb 2011 and Dec 2013. Apple supposedly provides four years of coverage from original date of sale. I am second owner of mid-2012 (purchased from first owner March 2014) that recently developed small screen glitches that then disappear. Laptop is currently at Apple Store for new retina screen covered under extended repair program.

As if that isn't enough, my battery tested as needing replacement when store ran diagnostics when I dropped off for screen repair. I had already looked into that, and it has 800 or so recharges and warranty covers 1000.

Repair center called and said they wanted to replace logic board and battery/top case for $539. Others with same Retina screen issue on Facebook group have said battery is free replacement, but I was quoted $299, the remainder being for top case and logic board. I told shop I would pick up without those repairs, as I wanted to research further.

Just not sure Apple still covers the mid-2012 for video issues/logic board. The site I found said 2011 was no longer covered, and I have feeling my model is just beyond coverage at this point. Going to store to pick up this afternoon and not sure how to handle.
