2012 cMBP trackpad makes a loud clicking sound

I just bought it today and whenever I use the trackpad to click on safari/etc, I would click on it and it makes a loud clicking sound.

Is this normal?

Well, it is supposed to make a clicking sound...I guess you need to quantify "loud."

So then I'm going to go with "normal" since it's not either of what you just said, which also means your initial post contradicts what you just said...

FWIW, I don't use the mechanical clicking function. I turn on tap to click in the settings.
