Hi All,

I wondering if it possible to upgrade the Airport card in a 2012 iMac to the one from a 2013 iMac ? Wasn't sure if the card was built on to the mother board or not ?

This is not a user-upgradable component. You would need to open the entire iMac up and solder in a new compatible Wireless LAN card. I have never heard of this being done and I've never seen an a/c card advertised as working in an older iMac. The 2012 however was a-compatible - just not the c-standard.

I have the Airport Extreme base station and my 2010 iMac connects easily to a 5 GHz network. It's a very fast connection. Perhaps a wireless router upgrade would be easier than upgrading your LAN card.
