Looking for a bit of help, and I have no doubt this has been asked before, just can't seem to find the right answer: I have a 2012 iMac that recently would go to sleep when asked, but after a certain period of time, just wouldn't wake from the space bar or mouse as it used to, and essentially required power off/power on. It does appear to be entering a hibernate mode from the console logs. All other behaviors seem to be normal.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi, I am having the same problem. I have had several iMacs and this is a first for me. Thanks!!

I am having this same issue only with my Macbook pro 2013 model. I think this is a Maverick's issues

Make sure "Wake For Network Access" is ticked in Energy Saving. This will reconnect the iMac to Wi-Fi so it does not enter a deep sleep (Safe Sleep) after 4 hours of undisturbed sleep.
