Hi,

Currently there is a 2012 macbook air 11" with core i7, 8gig, and 256gig for $999. Is this a better buy than a new 11" air core i5, 8 gig, 128gig?

Many thanks!

Personally, no. I value battery life and performance over storage space. Your pick.

Definitely go with the 2013 model. PCIe flash storage and almost twice the battery life make it a much smarter buy.

In some respects, yes. In others, no.

If you need more than 128 GB, yes, it's a better buy. If you can get by with 128 GB, the new model offers significant advantages, as noted by others.

Some people report good results from putting SDXC cards in their 2013 airs to extend the storage, eg the 128GB PNY StorEdge SD Card.
