I want to buy a new screen the LG 31MU97Z.. It is a 4k screen but does it work on my first gen retina macbook pro?
There are a few old topics people say it would work but only 30 hz... But with El Capitan you have more support and maybe i'm lucky it will support 60 hz on my Nvidia 650... or not?

Please let me know if you have any information about 4k monitors combined with the first gen macbook pro!

No it won't work at 60Hz. Try a search of the forums, this has been discussed many, many times already.

This is not about the graphics card it's about the bandwidth of your thunderbolt one and it's Display port implementation, it doesn't work.
