I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro (not retina) with the upgraded non-glossy display. It been an awesome laptop and still runs perfectly. Unfortunately, it developed a vertical line of dead pixels today on the screen.

Does anyone know what part causes this? I'm wondering if it's an easy fix, or just a sign that I need to start considering a replacement for the laptop.

Well, good news. The screen looks OK today. I didn't do anything to it. Hopefully this doesn't show up again.
