Can anyone advise if there were any worrying issues with the graphics card on 15" mid 2012 MBPro (pre Retina)?
I'm aware that earlier models of 15" & 17" had real issues, and similar with later 2015-2017 models.

I've been offered a non-retina 15" 2012 MBPro at a great price hence the question.

I have a 15" 2012 non-retina MBP and it is honestly my favourite Mac I've ever owned, even though I've now handed it down to my kids. I swapped the dvd drive into an external case and used a caddy to add a second drive, with SSDs this thing still flies! Oh, and it has ports! :)

There are no issues that I'm aware of with the NVIDIA Geforce 650M in this machine and, embarrassingly for Intel, it still performs better than the integrated intel junk in the Mac Mini 2018 I have to replace it.

Have fun, it's still a really good machine.

I don't think there are supposed to be. It wasn't recalled, unlike the 2010/2011 15" models. The 2012 retina 15" with 650m was recalled, but suspect this is due to the thinner case and hotter running though.

We have two, mine is still perfect, my wife's has had a few GPU Panics over the last couple of years. I haven't heard of any other having this so it's just "bad luck" - could also be due to our daughter once jumping on it....
